I don’t know about you, but I am no longer in the business of talking people into loving me.
I quit that a long time ago.
I am also no longer in the business of expecting people to love the way I love, respect the way I respect, and honor their word the way I honor mine… this one has been harder to learn but still a “line in the concrete” type of staple these days.
Sometimes though, with some people those old habits still pop up, catch me off guard, and when it does it’s never a rewarding experience for anyone involved. It leads to questioning your own worth, resentment, distrust, and hurt feelings.
So this is my message to whomever needs to hear it tonight, stop pushing people to be a part of your life and stop pushing for an answer or a response on your own timeline.
Follow your intuition.
Love with all you have.
But certainly don’t beg people to see it, love it, honor it, or choose it. That’s on them, not you.
I’ve always believed in love. I’ve always loved with everything I’ve got and even when I was in a bad situation or was single, I was always surrounding myself with as much love as possible. It wasn’t always easy but at the end of the day, it was always something I could count on.
Basically what I’m saying is that love has always been super present in my world and for that, I’m extremely grateful because I believe it makes all the difference in the core part of how you show up every day.
I owe that to my Mama. She is and always has been a massive advocate for the fact that at the end of the day, love wins. Her and my Dad are walking talking real-life examples that love truly can and does conquer all… IF you choose to allow it to guide you and be a part of who you are. And for that, I’m extremely grateful because no matter how terrible a situation has gotten in my life, how wrong I was done, how hateful someone was towards me, at the end of the day that love flame inside of me never went out. It always lit the way. It always kept me warm. It kept me moving forward. Continue reading “Always Believed In Love”
The heat kicks on in this house and it’s like you turned on a white noise machine. Chandler hates it because it means he has to turn up the TV to hear his shows, but I actually find it super comforting, especially in the morning before anyone else is awake. It’s like a barrier of sound that muffles everything just a little bit, just enough for me to refocus my thoughts when life gets a little too loud.
And guys, let me tell you life has been really damn loud lately. A lot has been happening that I couldn’t have planned for if I was Merlin himself but as I sit here this morning reflecting back on how life has been transpiring lately and looking to what this week has in store, I can honestly say that through it all, I’ve stayed surprisingly calm. “A lack of planning on your part doesn’t constitute an emergency on mine.”
^This was one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned over the years.
In my world, everything is intentional. I’m extremely “buttoned up” by nature. That doesn’t mean things are perfect, because they’re not. But it does mean that whatever is on my plate is always being handled and it’s always clear.
That’s always been a natural thing for me. But I used to let other people cause me to panic. Or question that. A lot.
