My Life Sentence

There’s a piece of my reality that I rarely talk about fully, up until recently that is.

It’s something I’ve lived with, learned to navigate, and have had to focus on daily for 20 years. It’s also something that makes me who I am. It’s something I know I’m not an island about. It’s something that most people can relate to but never want to say anything because we feel like we’re complaining or making excuses. Your Lens

Sometimes even when the reality isn’t really all that rosy we continue, out of pure subconscious comfortability to only see things through our trusty rose-colored glasses. 

 

The truth is, most of us were given those glasses at a really young age and they’ve become something we’ve carried in our pockets ever since. We put them on every time our experience was the only one that was comfortable to see and over the years they’ve become something that we depend on, unbeknownst to us.

Finding the Joy

A couple of years ago someone asked me what brought me joy and honestly, I froze. I didn’t know what to say. I wasn’t sure how to answer that question at all.

I mean, my business brought me joy, my clients made me happy, my successes we’re great but actual JOY? I was fresh out of ideas.

So, I started down this path of seeking job in all of the little moments that occur. Mix that with gratitude and it’s proving to be a very rewarding experience to create.

Everyone is looking for the secret sauce, the answer to how to get all of the things they want and usually, we want it all right this very moment, right? Oh I know, I’ve been there too. 

This is something I encounter a lot in my world and unfortunately, the answer isn’t what most want to hear. There is no quick way… but the cool part of that truth is it sure does help differentiate between who’s ready to commit now and who still needs time.

There’s a lot of buzz around clearing space these days and personally, I’m stoked about that. In a world that has idealized the act of being busy and hustle, it’s important that people are talking about the massive value of creating some space to live life according to how you want to really be living your life. 

 

Creating space mentally, physically, emotionally, and energetically allows you to be so much more self-aware and also provides the ability to be proactive in all areas versus reactive. And in a world that’s praising busy and reactive, the real power lies in the ability to be PROACTIVE.
