Where I Came From

Where I Came From

I was 17 the first time I started running the office of a business.

I remember getting the phone call from my boyfriend at the time who had found himself sitting in a pile of paperwork at year-end, saying… “I need some help.”

He was a few years older than me and had been running a successful business for a couple of years at that point but was handling all of the office work by himself and as it tends to work out, things grow and it becomes more than just one person can handle.

You see, I had been working at the local veterinary clinic for a few years at that point and was in charge of a lot of paperwork, invoicing, sales transactions, etc. So I had sufficient experience to start organizing and getting a system put into place within his business. Motivation

Motivation

I get asked a lot “How do you stay so motivated?”

Well the truth is, I don’t.

Motivation has nothing to do with it. I don’t wake up everyday motivated to work my ass off. I don’t want to do all the things on my list, hit the gym, and eat the veggies instead of the cookies… but I still do it.

You see, you’ve got this whole thing twisted. Just because you constantly see me doing stuff and you have witnessed my growth, doesn’t mean that I’m super motivated all the time. It simply means I CHOOSE to do these things, even when I don’t really feel like it.

It comes down to drive. Are you driven to be in control of our own life?

It comes down to: How bad do you want it? If you REALLY want it, then you do the work. Even when you’re not feeling motivated. You do it anyway. Continue reading “Motivation”

The Brain…

The Brain…

The brain is an interesting thing. It’s funny how everything is good, You can be kicking ass all day long, accomplishing everything you set out to do, make awesome connections, have a killer work out, make big break through with clients, have a good hair day, eat perfect macros, cross everything off the list. End the day feeling great.

Then you lay down. All noise off. Just you and the sound of the fan and your brain starts racing. It takes you to the one thing you wish you could control right now, but can’t. And even though you’re knocking down every thought its throwing at you with logic, it just keeps coming.

Even after many years of learning how to move past, release, and let go of certain feelings, sometimes…only sometimes my heart floods my head and I can’t turn it off.

Maybe that’s a sign of undiscovered things or unsaid words or maybe, just maybe these feelings weren’t ready to be shipped off so quickly.

I’m not sure yet but I plan on paying close attention until I figure it out.

Every Day Matters

Every Day Matters

It’s funny how one day can hold so many highs and so many lows.
How you can have the best morning, have good conversations, and have exciting things happen but then have an utterly trying afternoon. One that makes you want to crawl under a hole.

You Don’t Get To Just Pick One

You Don’t Get To Just Pick One

Why is it much easier for people to implement the rule of “authenticity” into their business (or at least claim to) but they can’t seem to put that same sort of naked rawness into their personal relationships?

Don’t you see the disconnect here?

ALL AREAS ARE CONNECTED! They all are part of the circle. Without one of the pieces, your ball won’t roll. You might be able to push it along, but it won’t roll smoothly. Continue reading “You Don’t Get To Just Pick One”

Back to Basics

Back to Basics

STOP OVER COMPLICATING SHIT.

Seriously. Stop it. Now.
You’re screwing yourself over with that nonsense. Yes, all things building a business takes work, A LOT of work in fact. And Yes, bettering yourself is a journey that also takes consistent work. BUT the thing is, it will ALWAYS come down to the basics.

My Natural Instinct

My Natural Instinct

My natural instinct is to be lazy. To sleep a lot. To eat like shit. To be in my prime from about 11am – 3pm. Sometimes I want to hustle from 6am and stay up super late on my laptop. But most of the time I want to sleep until 10 and be lazy.

Just because I WANT to do that, doesn’t mean that’s what I get to do. Continue reading “My Natural Instinct”
