Are you apologizing for your success?

Are you apologizing for your success?

When did it become so normal to apologize for our success? Frankly, we apologize for entirely too much. So much so that the value of the words “I’m sorry” doesn’t really hold much merit in a lot of situations.

When did “I’m not available at that time, I’m sorry” become the way we all auto respond to things that don’t fit specifically into someone else’s request?

Whelp- It’s all very ass backwards if you ask me and it’s time it starts to shift.

The Biggest Hurdle

The Biggest Hurdle

You might know this already but l speak from experience when I say that a reminder is needed frequently. Stress is possibly the biggest hurdle you’re facing right now and you don’t even realize it… because it’s become so “normal”.

In a world that tries to measure you by how fast you are, stress is almost inevitable… or so it probably seems.

I’m not saying I live a stress-free life because that’s not entirely true but I sure do try. I used to use what I saw as “motivation” to show up like pressure in extreme volume everywhere in my life and move me forward. It took me a while before I realized that that kind of stress wasn’t really suited for anyone. Not anyone who is trying to live in fullness, health, ease, and joy at least.

But damn did I try to do all of it at the same time. Then the good stuff was a direct result of the overbearing stress moments and somewhere along the line, my body started to resent it… insert more stress here.

Stress compromises your immune system. It can also cause sleeplessness, an increased probability of not eating properly, and/or turning to vices more frequently for an “out”.

All of which also can affect your body’s ability to fight off illness.

Please keep that in mind when you choose something over that mindfulness practice that you know should be a priority.

Please keep this in mind the next time you choose junk or no food over something that you know is nourishing.

Please keep this in mind the next time you choose anything oversleep repeatedly.

Being aware is a great tool.
Being prepared is also a valuable use of your energy, but panic and stress ultimately will add to the problem. Preparation is key to preventing more stress and panic.

Not sure how to do that? Or even where to get started?

I’m working on a bit of a guide style sharing that will help in some of these areas. If you’re interested in receiving it (it’s free btw), Make sure you sign up for my newsletter list.

Small shifts to reduce stress are what we’re looking for.

Are You Overworked?

Are You Overworked?

About 4 years ago I realized that this was not the way. Busy as a badge of honor is one of the most ass-backwards things you could do.

Here’s the deal. I’m an over-worker by nature. I have to actively keep myself balanced or I will work unnecessarily long hours and everything else in my life will suffer.

I lived on that cycle for most of my life, I get it. You probably don’t know how else to be. Or you hear me talk about living life on your terms, having time for everything you actually need and WANT to do, and replacing the chaos with calm and think.. “Ya, cool story bro. That’s not possible in my life Jamie.”

I get it, you think I couldn’t possibly help you, with everything that’s on your plate, everything you want to accomplish, everything you’re striving for but in some areas keep missing. All of the busy and chaos and hustle grind in your life is super necessary and there is no other way. Ya, so do most of my clients until they finally quit fighting their own lives and choose to take a step in the other direction.

That’s my purpose.

Whirlwind

Whirlwind

Last week I found myself sitting in a quiet room housed within a building that was created in 1875 alongside the river in a small town that feels like it had to be here when America first started.

I knew I had a deadline that I was already past to deliver the latest podcast episode and then it dawned on me that I did not bring my ‘podcast notebook’ with me.

Shit. Now what?

Energy Exchange

Energy Exchange

More and more frequently I’ve found myself in conversations with various people from all different walks of life about things they’re noticing make them feel overly drained or zoned out.

One of my friends said “I always feel like I’m more dumb and a zombie after scrolling”.

I went on to explain to her how normal that actually is (these days at least) and how it’s actually a massive exchange of energy that’s happening that we’re really not recognizing, therefore not making different choices OR giving that action the space it deserves without draining the life out of you.

Real Security

Real Security

Security. What does it really mean to you? Have you ever thought about it? Where does it come from? How do we create it? Or can we truly ever have it?

There are a lot of questions posed by this word that many have never taken the time to think about before.

Sometimes we go through life grasping for things that make us feel just a little safer or we create defense mechanisms that we think give us security. Is that kind of safety and security actually a ruse?

This topic was brought up to me recently in terms of what I help people build in the form of a solid foundation within themselves and their businesses. And man, was it a cool moment on seeing another layer to this practice. Continue reading “Real Security”

Show Up and Trust The Process

Show Up and Trust The Process

I was having a conversation with a client yesterday that said “I wish people would realize that investing in a coach doesn’t really cost you $2k a month, it makes you so more than that $2k. So it’s never like you’re ‘losing’ money or out another expense” and while I appreciate that sentiment and that absolute CAN be the case I had to remind her that unfortunately, that’s not always every person’s experience. What You Track

What You Track

We all seem to want more of something… but maybe it feels like an empty desire. One that’s fun to say but doesn’t seem at all like it could ever be a reality. OR maybe it feels sad or discouraging because nothing ever seems to work out right.

There’s never enough money or time or progress… What if I told you that you could flip that narrative and start actually getting more?

Well– what you track… grows.

Reflections

Reflections

I’ve noticed that I tend to write things a few days later than most. I used to think that meant I wasn’t planning ahead enough or once I missed the “day” then it would be stupid to post about the holiday or event. (Big Reflection–Dive In with me below)

The truth is, I don’t write about them before because I haven’t experienced them yet. I don’t know how I’ll feel or how it will go until it’s actually happened.

Also, I’m pleased to realize that it’s also because I’m actually freaking present during holidays and events or hangouts so typing about it doesn’t even cross my mind. Not even the morning of or evening after usually either. And that is something I’m super grateful for.

So here it comes friends, my post about 2020. Continue reading “Reflections”

Accountability

Accountability

Accountability. It really is the key everyone is looking for.

Its just not the fake, easy, extra shiny and glittery kind you can buy off the shelf on your way out the store like blame is.

If everyone would stop trying to point fingers, blame others, or try to find some “reason” as to why something is a certain way and realize that accepting the facts of your own involvement, your own choices every moment of every day, then all that crap that you’re piling up around you as the “culprits” would diminish and you could get back to the real situation, YOU.
