Intentional Shopping

Are you one of those people who only gets certain things for certain stores?

Because I am.

I frequent Trader Joe’s and Aldi more than anything BUT neither of them have the oats I like so I go to Dierbergs for those and for fage yogurt because I’m obsessed. AND Annie’s Burritos because also obsessed. (OH, and the local produce stand because they’re unbeatable on produce. Plus it’s the cutest place ever and makes me so happy!) Then there are items that I refuse to purchase anywhere besides Sam’s Club because the price point is just too good to pass up. I mean, I can get a massive bag of coffee beans at Sam’s for roughly the same price as a small, off brand bag at a regular grocery store and I just am not about that life.

Let’s Talk About Pooping…

Okay, let’s talk about pooping.

Yep, you read that right but it’s not what you think. I’m not going to talk to you about how your diet effects your bowel movements or try to tell you about the latest cleanse. What I’m wanting to talk about is the amount of time people spend in the bathroom “pooping” or most likely just sitting there on your phone hiding away from the world and killing some time.

Here’s the thing… If it legit takes you 45 minutes to take a shit every single day then you probably DO need to see a doctor or adjust your diet because that is not healthy. But if you’re sitting there fucking around on your phone or daydreaming or just wasting time, then only you can be honest with yourself about that. The whole “act” of doing your business in there probably takes 5-10 minutes tops. The sitting and dragging it out into a marathon is simply a choice.

Now maybe it’s a conscious choice. Maybe it’s the place where you choose to get some quiet time away from the loudness of your life (or kids). Maybe it’s where you get caught up responding to comments on social media. Maybe it’s where you take a little time to read that blog you subscribe to without being interrupted. All of those things are a CHOICE. And if that is an intentional part of your day, then more power to ya my friend. Do you, just wash your hands and your phone when you’re done.

I’m not sure if it’s because we’ve recently had several serious scares with my mom’s health or if I’m attracting more of these kinds of conversations but lately I’ve noticed something among so many people I’ve encountered and it’s quite honestly pissing me off.

Here’s why; Your health isn’t something to fuck around with.

You only get one body. That’s it. There’s no redo. There’s no turning it in for a new model. And while yes, this country especially has been feeding the masses full of false information about health for decades, it’s the age of information and you have all the data you need to turn your health around at your fingertips.

Clearing Space

Clearing space today.

Physically.
Mentally.
Emotionally.

This has become something I truly enjoy doing regularly. Because what I’ve realized is that physically every time I do this practice, I get rid of more stuff that is not serving me.
