Where I Came From

Where I Came From

I was 17 the first time I started running the office of a business.

I remember getting the phone call from my boyfriend at the time who had found himself sitting in a pile of paperwork at year-end, saying… “I need some help.”

He was a few years older than me and had been running a successful business for a couple of years at that point but was handling all of the office work by himself and as it tends to work out, things grow and it becomes more than just one person can handle.

You see, I had been working at the local veterinary clinic for a few years at that point and was in charge of a lot of paperwork, invoicing, sales transactions, etc. So I had sufficient experience to start organizing and getting a system put into place within his business. Complicated

Complicated

I often think to myself, “Why must we make things so complicated?”

While yes, this is the case when it comes to business and planning and execution more often than not, we also do the same thing when it comes to our personal lives. We make everything so damn complicated.

Fuck Standing Still

Fuck Standing Still

I’m going to be 30 in a few days. 30 years old, it’s hard to believe. It feels like these past 10 years have flown by. To be honest with you, I’ve always felt older. I’ve always been one of the youngest people in every room most of my adult life. So NO, I’m not freaking out about hitting the big 3-0 like a lot of people keep asking. I’m actually excited.

Own What’s Attractive to You

Own What’s Attractive to You

OWN WHAT’S ATTRACTIVE TO YOU AND DON’T FEEL BAD ABOUT IT.

Real talk: I have no space for people who don’t follow through.

Like… I just can’t. I don’t understand the concept or how there are so many people who just don’t do things and are just totally okay with it, like that’s just normal.

The Work Comes First

The Work Comes First

THE WORK COMES FIRST.

Yes, you have freedom. Yes, you have balance. Yes, you run your own business, Yippee!

But you guys… you don’t get to go enjoy them if you’re NOT DOING THE WORK, not if you want to keep them at least.

The work must come first.

I’m not saying it’s the most important thing… well, maybe I am. Continue reading “The Work Comes First”

Turn the Page

Turn the Page

SOMETIMES YOU MUST TURN THE PAGE. SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU DESERVE TO FLY.

Every morning I write. I write about the life I’m dreaming of. I write about what I’m creating. I write about what I want.

I let the words flow and sometimes it comes out as something too beautiful NOT to share… Continue reading “Turn the Page”

Keeping the Balance

Keeping the Balance

I struggle with keeping the balance. I know it’s possible because I DO create it. I know that I operate better when I’m in a place of balance but the truth is, I must work hard at it.

You see, my instinct is to work my fingers to the bone until I can’t stand any more.

That’s what I’ve always known. I come from a world of hard working, blue collar badasses who work from sun up to sun down and don’t ever complain once because they do what they gotta do.

Consistency

Consistency

Raise your hand if you struggle with CONSISTENCY?!

Okay, you don’t have to raise your hand, I know that’s not something ANYONE wants to admit.

But here’s the thing… not being consistent IS the reason you’re not getting the results you want. Continue reading “Consistency”

Be Careful What You Allow

Be Careful What You Allow

Why do we hold on to “how it used to be”? Especially in relationships. We are hopeful that maybe we can recreate the way things were at the beginning of our courtship when things were magical or when we first started our job and it was exciting and new.

The hope keeps us holding on, it keeps us optimistic that maybe it can be like that again. But hope is a dirty word. Hoping doesn’t get you anywhere. We know this in terms of money or closing a certain number of sales or paying our bills… but why don’t we look at it the same way in other areas of our life?
