You are not an island.

Feeling that way is a choice. A choice that is ultimately yours to make but in the grand scheme of things isn’t going to get you anywhere… besides digging yourself deeper into your own hole.

Open your eyes, I bet there is someone standing nearby who genuinely cares in an unbiased way. Let them see you. Let them come stand next to you. They aren’t there to save you. They aren’t there to judge or have any personal agenda at all actually. In fact, they are probably the one who is not saying much at all right now, just standing there holding space even when you can can’t understand how or why they would even still be there in the first place.

Choosing whether they hold space for you or not is absolutely not your decision. It’s 100% theirs. So drop the guilt or stories in your head that you’re wasting their time or somehow going to drag them down because trust me when I say, those individuals that care enough to stay, their level of perseverance and inner strength isn’t going to be shaken by anything, without THEIR permission. So quit using that as an excuse right now, no one is buying it anyway and you’re only hurting yourself.

Let yourself see them, accept them, because you are in fact, NOT an island and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you’ll get past where you’re feeling stuck right now.

Get out of your own way and get back to living. It’s time.

    1. Reid! As going in myself and doing a couple of updates I see that I have NOT been getting notified at comments on the blog. I am so sorry! Please know that my lack of response was not at all a reflection of anything other than a mistake on my part. Thank you SO much for reading my stuff, I really do appreciate it so much.

  1. Haha! That’s funny. I was wondering what was up. I figured you were more than a spam-bot fake account thingy. I’m glad you finally got the update. My comment was originally on May 12. Good stuff! Keep up the great writing. I enjoy reading you.
